The Local School Board of Bacolod City will hold a meeting this week to discuss the assistance to be provided for the Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School (MAIHS) at Barangay Mansilingan.

A fire razed one of the school buildings, where the supplies for the printing of the modules to be used for the school opening today, September 13, were stored.

Councilor Renecito Novero, chairperson of the City Council’s committee on education, said yesterday September 12, that they are awaiting for the report of Principal Michael Divinagracia so they could determine needs of the school.

"Once they submit their report, I will bring it to the Local School Board and it will be discussed in our next meeting," Novero said.

On September 7, a fire believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, destroyed the three-room building of the school shortly before midnight.

The fire immediately spread because it is full of bond papers and used modules, the Bureau of Fire Protection reported.

Divinagracia said aside from the equipment and supplies for the printing of the modules, several science laboratory apparatus, books and construction materials were also destroyed by the fire.

On Friday, Novero went to MAIHS and learned that the fire destroyed almost a million worth of properties.

Novero said the building need reconstruction so the school can use it again. (MAP)
