Sexagenarian drowns after tricycle falls off Bacolod port

A SEXAGENARIAN drowned after his tricycle plunged into the waters of the Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corp. (Bredco) port in Bacolod City Friday evening, July 3.

The fatality was identified as Nestor Ponce, 64, of Hervias 2, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod.

Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Head Commander Jansen Benjamin said they were informed that a tricycle fell at Bredco Port around 7:50 p.m.

He said they immediately conducted a search and rescue operation that led to the recovery of the body of the victim.

The victim sustained a head injury due to the impact of his fall into a 24-foot pier.

Benjamin said they could not determine if the incident was accidental or intentional.

He said investigation is still ongoing and the tricycle was already turned over to Police Station 2.
