SENIOR Police Officer 4 Oscar Exaltado, deputy chief of Bacolod Police Station 6, was laid to rest at Bacolod Memorial Park in Barangay Aljis on Sunday, February 3.

Exaltado was shot to death by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants on his way to work in Barangay Singcang-Airport on January 26.

He reportedly succumbed to 17 gunshot wounds to his head and body.

Exaltado, who served the police service for more than 20 years, was given a 21-gun salute led by the Special Weapon and Tactics of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Chief Inspector Ariel Pico, public information officer of BCPO, said they have yet to establish the motive and identity of the perpetrators behind the killing.

Exaltado’s death was earlier linked to illegal drugs following derogatory reports about him on narcotics, which the BCPO is validating.

Though the police had difficulty in tracking down the perpetrators, they do not discount the possibility that the assailants were gun-for-hire as they considered the execution of the crime “well-planned.”

Police are also closely checking on his previous works as a warrant server.

His family continue to cry for justice for his death. (GYM)
