Stiffer rules in declaring ‘drug-free’ jails

THE Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) has decided to implement strict rules in the declaration of drug-cleared jail facilities throughout Western Visayas.

This was decided during the 3rd ROC meeting in Iloilo City on Thursday, April 4.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spearheaded the 3rd Regional Oversight Committee Meeting.

The agenda included the guarantee of a tightened and strictest process in the deliberation of the applications for drug-cleared BJMP jail facilities, evaluation or assessment of documents and compliance on the parameters.

PDEA Western Visayas Chief Alex M. Tablate, Jail Senior Supt. Gilbert D. Peremne of BJMP-Western Visayas, and Police Regional Office- Western Visayas Director John C. Bulalacao were present together with Jail Insp. Henry C. Harder and a representative from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Richard Jess Jacildo, and John Richard Lapascua of the Department of Health. (TDE)
