BARANGAY Sum-ag Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman Jason Villarosa launched Monday, November 5, the Youth Emergency System (YES), a purok-based emergency system wherein the young people can immediately respond to all forms of emergencies within their areas.

Villarosa, at the launching of his project at the East View Hotel in Bacolod City, said: “If we have trained YES volunteers in our area, the first aid and other forms of emergency response can be made on-site and on time.”

He said the program is a support helpline for the emergency responders to save lives and properties.

Villarosa noted that the volunteers will be trained in different forms of emergencies like accidents, crowd control, fire, among others.

The first YES-Bacolod training in Barangay Sum-ag within a month, he said. It will be participated by its residents.

Trainings and seminars will also be conducted to other barangays, he added.

Villarosa said he already talked with his counterparts in other barangays.

He said YES-Bacolod will also form a control center or Help Assistant Person in-charge who will accept the emergency call.

YES-Bacolod has tapped the assistance of the Office of Civil Defense-Western Visayas and the private rescue groups for the trainings.

“This is one way of making our youth more proactive and responsive to what is happening within their areas,” Villarosa said.

Meanwhile, Villarosa, who is also chairman of Duterte Youth Movement in Bacolod City, said in the previous month, he also launched “Wow ang plastic mo” campaign in Barangay Sum-ag which was participated by all puroks.

“The winner will receive a cash prize from my family and not from barangay budget, and after the competition, we will build a giant plastic bottle Christmas tree in Barangay Sum-ag,” Villarosa added.

He said the giant Christmas tree will be one of the tourist sites in Barangay Sum-ag.
