Suspect killed, 2 cops wounded in shootout

A WANTED person died while two policemen were injured after they engaged in a shootout in Barangay Manlocahoc in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Thursday afternoon.

Killed was Emerson Antepaso Jr. Wounded were Police Officers 2 Armando Arsenal and Joy Pabera, both members of the Regional Mobile Force Company-6.

Police records showed that Antepaso fired at the police officers when they served him an arrest warrant for murder around 12:45 p.m.

Pabera was hit in his chest and hand while Arsenal sustained a minor injury on his head.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said the suspect was killed during the shootout.

The two wounded policemen were brought to a hospital in Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Cesar Binag, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas director, arrived in Bacolod City on Thursday to visit the wounded police officers.

He also commended both uniformed men and gave them medals for their bravery and exemplary performance in the call of duty. (PR)
