A MAN facing several theft complaints was shot dead at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, June 28.

Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Mark Decolongon, 31, of Purok Woodstock in the city's Barangay Tangub sustained gunshot wounds on his neck and chest.

Gabana said the victim’s family admitted that aside from being involved in theft cases, Decolongon is also an illegal drug user.

Police recovered two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol from the scene of the crime believed to have been triggered by grudges.

Case investigator Corporal Caesar Chavez Jr. said Decolongon, who was temporarily staying at Barangay 8, was last seen scavenging at a vacant lot at Palanca Road in the barangay.

Chavez said that possibly, the murder was perpetrated by more than two suspects.

So far, this is already the 13th shooting incident that happened in Bacolod City since June 1 this year.*
