THE City Government of Bacolod is now conducting an online pre-registration for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccination of 12 to 17-year-old minors in preparation for the move of the national government to inoculate the minors in the country.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical and analysis of Emergency Operation Center- Task Force (EOC-TF), said Wednesday, September 22, they are preparing the master lists so that the city is ready once the national government will ask the number of minors to be vaccinated in the city.

“We are making a master list so that we can provide data to the Department of Health (DOH) once the vaccine is ready,” he said.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III earlier announced that the government may include the children in the Covid-19 vaccination program in the fourth quarter of the year.

Sorongon said they are now coordinating with the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (Nopsscea) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to get the number of students whose ages are from 12 to 17 to be vaccinated once the vaccine is available.

The barangays through the health workers are also doing the same, he said.

“For now, we are also waiting for the advisory of the DOH to determine the brand of the vaccines to be used for the vaccination program for the minors,” Sorongon said.

In an advisory, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration said at least two brands of jabs against Covid-19 can be used to inoculate minors.
