Velasco, other lawmakers arrive in Negros Occidental

HOUSE Speaker Lord Allan Velasco along with several other congressmen have arrived in the province Friday, September 3, 2021.

Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez said Velasco and other congressmen attended the christening of the twin sons of former deputy speaker Mercedes Alvarez as godparents at a church in Bacolod City.

"They were here fly in and fly out only," he said.

Golez said Negros Occidental Third District Representative Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez hosted a lunch for the congressmen, where he was also invited was unable to meet them.

With Speaker Velasco were Representatives Sharon Garin, Mark Enverga, Kristine Singson Meehan, Wes Gatchalian, Toff De Venecia, Johnrey Tiangco, Carlos Cojuangco, and House Seretary General Mark Llandro “Dong” Mendoza, Golez said.

They were joined by Negros Occidental Congressmen Gerardo Valmayor, Leo Rafael Cueva, Juliet Marie Ferrer and Greg Gasataya, he added.
