Vice mayor: ‘Let’s unite as one city’

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

“LET’S unite as Bacolodnons for the development of our city.”

This is the wish of Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran for this year 2020.

“We are asking our constituents to cooperate with us. Let’s unite as Bacolodnons to achieve our dreams and aspirations,” Familiaran said Thursday, January 2.

This year, he said they expect more developments in Bacolod.

“Three to four years from now, there will be more improvement and development in Bacolod City. We have a very good economy because of the on-going construction and continuing investment of big investors here. Let’s look forward to 2020 with enthusiasm and optimism,” Familiaran said.

Familiaran added that during the New Year’s countdown at the Bacolod Government Center, Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced that the construction of the Bacolod Museum will start this year.

The P163-million museum-auditorium was facilitated by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.

The project will not cost the City Government. This will be constructed along Barangay Alijis.

The Yanson family earlier donated to the City Government a total of 8.8-hectares of land to be used for the South Public Terminal, museum, and coliseum along Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City.

Familiaran said the construction of Bacolod coliseum will also start this year.

He said this project will develop the sleeping southern part of Bacolod. The coliseum and museum also had a land area of 7.3 hectares.
