A VILLAGE councilman was arrested after he stabbed his fellow councilman at Barangay Tigbon in Calatrava, Negros Occidental Wednesday.

Police collared Warren Cabag, a resident of the same village, around 10:30 p.m.

Cabag allegedly stabbed Gonzalo Rayna, 38, of Barangay Malanog, using an unknown bladed weapon.

Rayna was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City after sustaining a lone stab wound to his chest.

Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, town police chief, said the barangay officials met at the road and had a misunderstanding over the headlights of their motorcycles.

The commotion led to a fistfight and stabbing.

Batusbatusan said frustrated homicide charges are being readied against Cabag, who is detained at the station.
