Village councilman shot dead

A VILLAGE councilman was shot to death inside his store at the public market of Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra Monday, March 23.

The victim was identified as Edward Dominic Algara, 45 years old and resident of the said village.

Police Captain Rhon Darrel Nigos, chief of police of Pontevedra Police Station, said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday inside the feeds store of the victim.

Nigos said the assailant wearing black jacket and bonnet suddenly came inside the store and shot the victim. The suspect also carted away the money from the victim’s table.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his head and left side of his body and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valladolid District Hospital.

The suspect who was described to have big built and more or less 5’9” in height immediately fled to unknown direction. (TDE)
