EVELYN Donesa, the number one kagawad (councilman) of Barangay 8, Bacolod City, will take over the post of the late Mylene Diwara as barangay captain.

Donesa said Tuesday, April 17, that she is waiting for the order of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for her to take the oath of office.

She said she was elected as barangay kagawad in 2013.

Diwara, 57, passed away on April 14 due to acute myeloid leukemia.

Diwara was described by Donesa as a good leader.

She said Diwara has done her best for the improvement of Barangay 8.

“We are not in the same political party, but we are in good terms,” she said.

Donesa, who will also run for barangay captain in the May 14 elections, vowed to serve her constituents and continue the projects of Diwara.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier said that Diwara is a big loss to the barangay governance because of her commitment to serve, adding she was one of those who had maintained integrity. (MAP)
