 Adrian P. Nemes III

A VILLAGE watchman died after he was hacked by his colleague in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental past 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

Police identified the victim as Noli Carpentero, 48, of Barangay Inolingan while the suspect Agie Bañares, 42, was detained at the town’s police station.

Initial investigation showed that the village watchmen were playing billiards when an altercation ensued between them.

Carpentero reportedly hit Bañares with the billiard stick, the police said.

Bañares then took a bolo and repeatedly hacked the victim in retaliation, the police also said.

Carpentero died while being rushed to the Moises Padilla Infirmary clinic.

The suspect, who is now facing homicide charges, surrendered to Inolingan Captain Micil Hilario after the incident.
