A 25-YEAR-OLD woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in front of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City Saturday afternoon, August 17.

The fatality was identified as Crystal Faith Jastiva, of Bonifacio Street, Purok Balunggay, Barangay Poblacion, Bago City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said the victim was walking along Magsaysay Avenue in front of BJMP when unidentified assailants fired at her at about 3:10 p.m.

Investigation conducted by Police Station 8 showed that Jastiva had just visited Kirby Andrada inside the BJMP. Andrada was detained for possession of illegal drugs worth P200,000 of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride.

The victim sustained a lone gunshot wound in her head and died on the spot.

The perpetrators, who were on board a black motorcycle and wearing black t-shirts, fled towards Araneta Street.

Pico said the victim, who was using the fictitious name Ashly Kate Gonzaga, was positively identified by her grandmother Dioreta Sevilla, 73.

He said the victim had been using the fictitious name since she left their home in Bago.

He added the mother of the victim is also currently detained at Bago City Jail for illegal drugs.

Pico disclosed that they are still conducting a follow-up and drag net operations to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
