A WOMAN died after she was stabbed to death by her live-in partner in Purok Hervias II, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Tuesday morning, June 1, 2021.

Police identified the fatality as Maria Ann Tamonan, 26, a native of Cauayan, Negros Occidental and temporarily staying in Purok Hervias II, Barangay Villamonte.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, chief of Police Station 4, said Tamonan sustained multiple injuries after she was stabbed by her live-in partner Lindon Dinawanaw, 37, around 12:10 a.m.

Investigation showed that before the incident, a heated argument ensued between Tamonan and Dinawanaw. The suspect took a knife and attacked the victim several times.

Batadlan said that according to the neighbor of the victim, they heard Tamonan begging from the suspect not to hurt her because they have a child, but the suspect stabbed her on her back twice.

After killing the victim, the suspect also stabbed himself. He was brought to a hospital.

Police recovered from the crime scene a knife measuring eight inches from tip to handle.

Police are eyeing jealousy as a possible motive in the killing of the victim.

Batadlan said they are waiting for the family of the victim if they will file a case against the suspect, who is still confined in a hospital.
