Zumba instructor shot dead in broad daylight

A SINGLE gunshot ended the life of a Zumba instructor when he was fired by an unidentified assailant in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental at about 8 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Hinigaran town police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Necerato Sabando Jr., identified the victim as Clint James Tomazar, 30, of the town’s Barangay Narawis.

Sabando said Tomazar died while being treated at the town’s clinic a few minutes after he was shot.

He said the unidentified suspect was tailing Tomazar on his motorcycle based on the witnesses’ accounts.

Sabando said the suspect alighted from the motorcycle and shot the victim at close range in front of a grocery store in the town proper.

Witnesses told the police that the suspect has a slim built and was clad in a striped t-shirt and brown tactical pants and a dark-colored baseball cap.

Recovered from the crime scene was a fired cartridge case of a .45 caliber pistol and the victim’s cellular phone, police records showed.

Sabando said Tomazar has no criminal records and in fact is active in teaching Zumba in the town including the policemen.

He said the last time he saw Tomazar alive was on Tuesday.

As of Thursday, the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station is still in limbo as to the motive behind the incident.
