Lomachenko wins 2nd straight Olympic boxing gold

LONDON — Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine won his second straight Olympic boxing gold medal on Sunday, completing his domination of the London lightweights with a 19-9 victory over South Korea's Han Soon-chul.

Lomachenko is the unofficial pound-for-pound king of amateur boxing after following up his featherweight gold in Beijing with two world championships. He is now the first two-time gold medal boxer in Ukraine's Olympic history.

Lomachenko was tested much more in his previous two fights in London than in the gold-medal bout. Han is a veteran amateur who had never done this well in an international tournament.

Lomachenko joined gold-medal winning teammate Oleksandr Usyk, who conquered the heavyweight division Saturday. (AP)
