Magnitude 5.1 quake hits Zambales

MANILA -- A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted some parts of Central Luzon Saturday night, state seismologists reported.

The quake, according to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), occurred at 6:18 p.m.

The epicenter was located at 17 kilometros southwest of Iba, Zambales. The tremor has a depth of 10 kilometers.

Phivolcs said the quake was just shallow and has no connection with the status of any active volcanoes nearby. It was tectonic in origin.

No damage to property was reported. (Sunnex)
