MANILA -- Power distributor Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said it will implement a three-hour rotational brownout in its franchise areas due to insufficient electricity supply.

The brownouts are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. as the company cited the shutting down of the Sual power plant in Pangasinan and the technical problems in the Masinloc plant in Zambales.

In its official Twitter account, Meralco said residents of Bulacan, Batangas, Quezon, Cavite, Laguna, parts of Pampanga, and Metro Manila will experience a three-hour rotational brownout.

Meralco said in a separate statement that the schedules (http://www.meralco.com.ph/news.html) are subject to change without prior notice.
