No PSE trading on Nov. 1

MANILA -- Trading at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) will be closed on Monday, All Souls Day, ending this week's market on a positive note.

The benchmark PSE index added 8.05 points or 0.19 percent higher than Thursday’s close at 4,268.74 points. The broader all shares index also improved to 2,725.89 points after gaining 6.63 points or 0.24 points.

Except for industrial firms, all sub-indices recovered from Thursday’s weak showing as advancers defeated losers, 73 to 61, while 43 issues were unchanged.

Trading volume and value, however, dropped with 1.29 billion shares worth P5.47 billion changing hands, from 2.35 billion shares worth P5.59 billion on Thursday.
