MANILA -- Malacanang opted to ignore the video made by Mae Paner a.k.a. Juana Change apparently mocking President Benigno Aquino III’s decision to buy a “third-hand” luxury sports car.

Presidential Strategic Planning Secretary Ricky Carandang said Malacanang is not obliged to react on every criticism thrown at the President.

“I haven’t seen it and I don’t care,” Carandang said.

In Paner’s video, she is having an argument with ordinary people about the move of President Aquino to purchase a Porsche in the face of widespread poverty in the country.

A student in the video cites Section 4 of Republic Act 6713 or Code of Ethical Standards for Public Officials, which states that “public officials and employees and their families shall lead modest lives appropriate to their positions and income. They shall not indulge in extravagant or ostentatious display of wealth in any form”.

Paner is a staunch supporter of Aquino and campaigned for him in the last May 2010 elections.

Carandang refused to speculate on the female activist’s points of view, saying she has the freedom to air her opinion on the administration. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
