MANILA – The poll body urged President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III to declare Tuesday or Wednesday a special non-working holiday following the suspension of Monday's elections in more than 1,700 villages.

This after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reiterated the need to use public schools facilities as polling centers in the affected areas.

The Department of Education (DepEd) earlier announced the suspension of classes on Tuesday in all public elementary and high schools nationwide.

For schools where elections were moved to October 26, classes are suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday, the DedEd noted. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
