Greek-owned MV Eagle along with its 24 Filipino crew members seized in January by Somali pirates is now free, according to a maritime official.

Maritime editor of the Somalia Report Andrew Mwangura said Sunday that the ship is free along with the crew members and made their way into safe waters.

A report from Reuters said the ship and all crew members were released after pirates received a ransom of $6 million.

While heading to India from Jordan, MV Eagle and its 24 Filipino crew members were seized by Somali pirates in January about 500 miles southwest of Oman. (Sunnex)
