THE Abanse Negrense Spikers will fly to Subic Tuesday, February 23, 2021, to compete for the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2021 at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Administration, Zambales.

This is the first official volleyball tournament that will be played since the lockdown in March 2020

The Jason Delmo-mentored Abanse Negrense/Volleyball Association of Negros Island, Inc. is composed of former University of Negros Occidental Recoletos standouts Erjane Magdato, Alexa Polidario, Jennifer Cosas, and Gelinae Villanueva. Also on the team are Volleyball Association of Negros Island president and Philippine National Volleyball Federation director Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa and team consultant Janus Dumaran.

Governor Eugenio "Bong" Lacson, during the team's courtesy visit on Friday, told players to carry the Negrense colors with great pride in this tournament.

"It is also important that the Negros Team will be the 'most sportsmanlike' team in the tournament," Lacson said. "I expect both the Negros teams will face each other in the finals."

Meanwhile, Provincial Sports Coordinator Anthony Carlo Agustin told players to play their best and bring home the trophy if possible.

The team leaves Tuesday and is expected to return on March 1.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
