Bacolod athletes shine in PSC Visayas leg in Iloilo

BACOLOD City-based athletes dominated table tennis and karatedo events in the recently-concluded Philippine Sports Commission Visayas leg held in Iloilo City.

Netter Dirk Nhickolle Atilano of La Carlota City won the gold medal and St. Scholastica Academy’s standout Dianah Yapiso settled for bronze in the 12 and Under.

Negros Occidental High School mainstays Fea Arguelles and Ken Andrei Memoria also won gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the 16 and Under category.

Margueritte Therese Calaor of Bacolod Tay Tung High School took home two gold medals in the 11 to 13 years old girls’ kata and kumite divisions in karatedo.

Jose Montalbo, Tay Tung’s vice president for sports, said that Calaor is one of the school’s talented athletes who have a bright future in karatedo.

Thousands of athletes across the Visayas region recently converged in Iloilo for this prestigious event aimed to discover the future stars of Philippine sports.
