Dumaguete spikers win Sipalay beach volley tilt

DUMAGUETE City's Team Timagrey of Princess Lyca Abrasaldo and Yrinitz Baligasa defeated Bacolod’s St. John’s Institute-A tandem Lorien Gamboa and Bea Gapusan to emerge champions in the Sipalay City 18 and Under Women's Beach Volleyball Invitational Tournament.

Timagrey outscored SJI-A, 21-13 and 21-17.

En route to the championship match, the Dumaguete team defeated Foundation Preparatory Academy duo of Yushawu Saidatu and Jillaiza Mika Doing in the semis while SJI-A conquered Pontevedra team of Ash Bkheet and Myrtle Escanlar.

Pontevedra won over Foundation Preparatory Academy to seal third place honor.

The three-day tournament, which is part of the City’s 17th Charter Day Anniversary, was organized by Sipalay City’s Nathaniel Jan Celiz, Roger Banzuela of UniGames and Negros Occidental Volleyball Association, and Eduardo Baragat, president of Pasaway Foundation Inc. (HGD)
