NEGRENSE Reynold Tupas sizzled with 25 points to power Hua Siong College of Iloilo in clinching the Bingawan Foundation Cup pre-season High School Basketball title over St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets, 90-71, at the Bingawan Gym.

The Himamaylan City-native Tupas was named the tournament's “Best Point Guard” and “Most Valuable Player.”

Tupas said that he only followed what head coach Vincent Conlu asked from him to step up. “Those individual awards were just bonuses. What is important for us is the championship," he said.

Red Phoenix came out sizzling in the first half behind Tupas to build a double-digit advantage and continued to dominate the second half as the lead surged to as high as 20 points.

Meanwhile, Hercor College Junior Jaguars banked on Raffy Arguelles' towering performance to bag third place over University of San Agustin Golden Eaglets, 92-55. (HGD)
