NEGROS Occidental Private School Sports, Cultural and Educational Association Season 38 Men’s Basketball was set to kickoff Wednesday, November 21, but organizers opted to postpone the staging of the games due to the bad weather brought by Tropical Depression Samuel.

This was disclosed by tournament manager Anthony Carlo Agustin. However, he has yet to confirm when the competition will resume.

Reigning champions Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias will lead the eight collegiate teams vying for this season’s title.

Among other teams seeing action are University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), STI-West Negros University, University of St. La Salle (USLS), La Consolacion College-Bacolod (LCC-B), Asian College of Aeronautics, Visayan Maritime Academy-Global College and Colegio San Agustin Bacolod (CSAB).

Scheduled to take the hardcourt for the opening game are LCC-B and USLS followed by CSAB and UNO-R.

Meanwhile, Colegio Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV), which recently captured the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Region 6 Elimination Knockout Game, is also ready to defend its crown behind multi-titled mentor Elvis Atinado.

Tournament commissioner Bobby Tee said the eight teams will play in the round-robin format elimination with the top team playing the number four and the number two and number three faces off in the semi-finals.

The championship match will be a best-of-three final, added Tee.
