DESPITE the strict quarantine set in place to stem the spread of coronovirus disease 2019, the Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers (NTU-Tigers), headed by power couple Jean Pierre and Crystal Pauline Sabido, chose to adapt to the situation and encouraged the club’s members to continue pursuing growth.

On May 30-31, the NTU-Tigers joined the first 2020 SMART/MVP Online Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, fielding 10 participants and aiming to prove that learning the martial art online is possible.

NTU-Tiger Christelle Therese P. Avanceña bagged a gold medal in the blue belt female division for ages 12-14.

The other NTU-Tigers who participated in the tournament were Ceanne Kyle Rosquillo, Arthur Diaz, Leigh Andee Rodriguez, Kenjie Latido Aunzo, Christophe Avanceña, Julienne Beatriz Zapata, Julian Ignatius Sabay, Francine Launio, and Manuel Machado III.

"It was very challenging to encourage our students to continue training. We are very grateful to the Philippine Taekwondo Association for giving our students something to look forward to," Coach JP said.
