Pontevedra booters capture national Futsal title

CALVARY Pontevedra Futboleros Club claimed the championship title in the U-16 girl's division of the recently-concluded Allianz National Futsal League held at Santa Cruz, Laguna.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Sandy Matunding nailed a pair of goals to anchor Calvary Pontevedra over Cordillera Binnadang, 2-1, while Watashi team settled for third place.

With Calvary Pontevedra’s impressive game, Justine Marie Mamon and Melona Rafil were selected to be part of the eight players who will take part in the Allianz Junior Football Camp in Thailand next month, July.

If they will do well in Thailand, they will have a chance to be part of the three players who will go to Munich, Germany in September for training with Bundesliga champion FC Bayern Munich.

Also suited up for the Calvary Pontevedra squad are Jenny Marie Jaga, Ginalyn Javier, Monica Pasco, Mekylla Robles, Aliexa Casi, Shayne Emilia, Angel Egay, and Jolinda Demil.

Global FC defeated Jaro, Iloilo, 3-1, to claim the U-16 boy's division title as Davao FC took home third place honors. (HGD)
