AFTER 13 years, “time for change” finally arrived to Philippines sports, said Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella.

“It’s a good start for Philippine sports. It’s time to unite for the good of the athletes. Nowhere to go but up. Le’'s just do it,” said Puentevella who supported newly-elected Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Ricky Vargas of Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (Abap).

Abap Visayas vice president Angel Verdeflor, sports coordinator of Negros Occidental, said he sees a positive sports development under the watch of Vargas.

University Games president Roger Banzuela said Vargas’ election is good for Philippine sports.

“For sure there will be a good working relationship between the POC and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) that will benefit our athletes. And the PSC grassroots program will have now the support of the POC. (HGD)
