2 dead in Kennon road mishap

A MOTORCYCLE driver and his passenger died in a road accident in Sitio Gusaran, Barangay Twin Peaks, Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet.

The Tuba Municipal Police Station said the incident happened at 6:42 p.m. Monday, April 22, when Romnick Alonen, 24, driver, lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a sharp curve.

The motorcycle then hit a pick-up truck driven by Junel Paus, 31, who was on his way up to Baguio City.

Alonen was with Ronnie Awingan, 21, also a resident of Bangar Rosario, La Union. They were headed to La Union when the accident happened.

Paus told investigators that he tried to avoid the motorcycle and stepped on to the brakes but to no avail.

Investigation added Alonen and Awingan were brought to the Rosario District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Paus was temporarily held at Tuba police station pending the disposition of the case.
