ABOUT P110,000 worth of marijuana plants were uprooted by police in barangay Tacadang in Kibungan, Benguet.

On December 21, a composite team from the Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) led by Senior Inspector Francis Colas and Kibungan Municipal Police Station Senior Inspector Marcial Valdez during their patrol discovered a marijuana plantation in Sitio Les-eng, Tacadang, Kibungan.

Authorities destroyed a total of 500 pieces seedlings and 450 pieces of fully-grown marijuana in the area upon discovery of the plantation site.

Benguet PPO director Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio said the discovered plants were uprooted, burned onsite and some were taken as evidence and turned over to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit for proper disposition.

The operation is in accordance to the aim of making Benguet drug free from illegal activities including marijuana cultivation which is in violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.

The provincial director lauded both units and urged the community’s support in the police anti-illegal drug war and report illegal activities within their barangays.
