MORE than 500 tree varieties were planted by La Trinidad stakeholders in Puguis Communal Forest in La Trinidad, Benguet last week.

Coinciding with the oath-taking of newly elected officers of La Trinidad Municipal Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative, a tree planting activity on September 25 saw 300 Arabica coffee tree planted by personnel and officials of the local government.

There were also 200 coffee seedlings and 30 culms of Bamboo planted by the Congregation from Holy Guardian Angels Parish of Pico with the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew, Episcopal Youth Movement and Episcopal Church of Women.

This was followed by lime application by police trainees of the Gilas-Diwa Class of 2019-02 undergoing Public Safety Field Training Program under the supervision of Regional Special Training Unit-Cordillera.

Lime application is employed in newly planted coffee seedlings to ensure soil productivity.
