POLICE in the province of Abra remain clueless as to the motive and identity of the perpetrators in the killing of Lagayan Councilor Isagani Gamboa Joson.

Senior Inspector Grace Baron, Abra Provincial Police Office information officer, said authorities are still gathering appropriate information which would lead to the identity of the assailants.

Earlier, the Police Regional Office-Cordillera have created a special investigation task group to investigate the killing of Jason on August 8.

The task group is headed by deputy regional director for operations Senior Superintendent Sterling Raymundo Blanco and co-chaired by Abra Provincial Police director Senior Superintendent Wilson Soliba.

Aside from investigating on the motive, the task group will also look into possible threats received by Joson prior to the shooting incident.

Abra police discovered a .45 caliber pistol beside the victim which is believed to be owned by Joson.

The councilor sustained a gunshot wound at his back which exited to his chest.
