Benguet Covid-19 cases down to 5

Lauren Alimondo

ONLY five active cases of Covid-19 are being monitored in Benguet since shifting to general community quarantine by the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19.

The latest is a 34-year-old male construction worker from Saudi Arabia and a resident from Kilometer 21 in Tublay.

Mayor Armando Lauro on Thursday, July 2, 2020, issued Executive Order No. 34, placing Sitio Kilometer 20 and Kilometer 21 of Barangay Ambassador, Tublay under temporary lockdown for contact tracing.

The returning overseas Filipino worker arrived in the country with complete documents and a negative Covid test.

However, upon arrival at the quarantine facility in Benguet, he underwent a re-swabbing and tested positive.

He is the 39th Covid-19 patient in the province and has been asymptomatic of the virus.

The province earlier sent home two frontliners from Kapangan and Buguias after testing negative for Covid-19 on July 1.

On Monday, June 29, personnel and staff of the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) led by Hospital Chief Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, with Governor Melchor Diclas, held a send-off ceremony for the six new recoveries from the hospital facility.

Diclas said all the patients are frontline workers: municipal government employees from Sablan and La Trinidad, a barangay tanod from Itogon, and two police officers from La Trinidad and one from Buguias.

They were ferried by their respective local government units to their local quarantine facilities, where they will be isolated for another 14 days before going back to their communities and their respective duties.
