Burglars cart away soldier's firearm

A MEMBER of the Philippine Army assigned at the Joint Task Group Builder in Marawi City, and a resident Pico, La Trinidad, is the latest victim of robbery in Benguet’s capital town.

In a report by the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, the incident was discovered at 7:15 p.m. of June 17 after receiving a call from Jimmy Fernandez, informing them of an alleged robbery which happened at Block 14, Lot 19, Dreamland Subdivision, Pico.

The soldier was identified as as Julesther Obnimaga Canada.

Investigator said that when Regine Canada arrived home, she noticed the sliding window was opened and after few minutes, her nephew Cedric arrived home and noticed the exhaust fan at their kitchen was destroyed.

The exhaust fan was believed to be used as entry and exit by the suspects since the sliding window has protective steel grill.

Burglars carted a personal cal .45 with Serial No. 1276437 and license with expiry date June 28, 2015 owned by the victim.

His issued firearm Swiss Valve Cal. 45 pistol with markings PA, USA, United States Property with serial no. 812301 was not taken and left at the same drawer including two short magazines of M16 with twenty seven ammunitions.

No latent prints were found in the crime scene aside from the absence of a CCTV installed in the area to identify the suspects. (Jonathan Llanes)
