ONE of Baguio City’s coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive patients, seen to be the first to contract the virus through local transmission, has agreed to reveal his identity to facilitate the tracing of persons he had contact with and start their own quarantine protocols.

Joel Junsay, 52, a health worker of the City Health Services Office and resident of barangay New Lucban, executed an affidavit allowing his details to be made public to save the lives of persons he came in contact with.

Junsay also supports the latest move of Mayor Benjamin Magalong to reveal the identities of willing Covid-19 patients to enhance transparency and hasten the city’s contact tracing system.

His test result showing he is positive for Covid-19 infection was known Saturday, March 28, with symptoms developing since March 12 with no travel history outside the city.

Magalong said Junsay was among those tested by the Huawei Artificial Intelligence CT scan analyzer piloted in the city and his infection positively detected by the technology.

The AI findings enabled the city to immediately administer the necessary medical intervention for Junsay and at the same time launch contact tracing at an early time.

All those who had interaction with Junsay for the last 14 days starting on March 12 must get in touch with the CHSO. (PR)
