DPWH calls for meeting on convention center

DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways Regional Director Tiburcio Canlas is calling for a meeting with Baguio City officials.

In a letter dated January 24, the DPWH asked councilor Mylen Yaranon to attend a coordination meeting on issues surrounding repair and rehabilitation of the Baguio Convention Center.

Canlas said the meeting is to further discuss concerns and arrive at a consensus and a common stand on pressing concerns.

The request for a meeting came after the city council decided to raise concerns with the Baguio Convention Center to Highways Secretary Mark Villar.

The legislative body voted to endorse the letter by Councilor Mylen Yaranon to Villar, detailing an impasse with the regional office.

The city implored to Villar to look into the BCC so that a safe and world class Baguio Convention Center could be achieved.

Yaranon said approved plans are not being implemented by the regional DPWH.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan has backed the move of the council to consult Villar.
