A MINI bus driver and two bus conductors were tested positive for illegal substance use during a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) random drug testing in various bus terminals in Baguio City.

This measure of PDEA-CAR is in line with its nationwide continuous conduct of simultaneous surprise mandatory drug test to bus drivers and conductors, K9 sweeping in bus terminals, airports and seaports throughout the country to help ensure the safety of travelers.

PDEA-Cordillera director Edgar Apalla said the three individuals will undergo confirmatory tests.

“If it would be confirmed that these individuals are regular users of illegal substance, they will be subjected for rehabilitation,” Apalla said.

PDEA created two groups which will conduct random drug testing in the different public utility vehicle terminals in the city.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
