DSWD assists ‘Habagat’ affected families

AROUND 119 families or 471 individuals were affected by the continuous rains in the Cordillera Administrative Region brought about by “Habagat.”

In a report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera (DSWD), 59 families or 196 individuals were evacuated while 46 families comprised of 211 individuals chose to live with their relatives.

Four houses were reported to be partially damaged, while one house was reported as totally damaged due to landslide.

The Regional Social Welfare Department have released assistance to those affected by the Habagat, while the distribution of relief goods are continued particularly at the evacuation centers in various parts of the region.

The DSWD Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (FOCAR) and Regional Resource Operations Section (RROS) and Satellite Warehouses have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P40,679,691.

The amount includes P5,694,856 of family food packs (FFPs) worth, P26,760,287.65 of food and non-food items (FNIs), and P5,532,741 of other food items available for the region’s emergency needs.

Additional standby funds amounting to P2,691,805 is also available.

The Regional Resource Operations Section maintains a total of 15,262 FFPs readily available for distribution. Of which, 76 FFPs are prepositioned to Social Welfare and Development Office-Abra (SWAD); 150 to SWAD-Ifugao; 500 to 54th Infantry Division in Paracelis; 600 FFPs to 1502nd Maneuver Company in Tadian, Mountain Province; and 700 FFPs to 50th Infantry Brigade in Pinukpuk and 700 FFPs to 503rd Brigade Philippine Army in Tabuk City, both in Kalinga.

Aside from the FFPs, DSWD has available 1,526 family kits, 982 hygiene kits, and 3,655 sleeping kits that can be distributed if necessary. (With PR)
