SOCIALIZED housing projects by Gawad Kalinga may soon rise in Baguio City.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong asked members of the City Council to give him authority to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Gawad Kalinga.

"Socialized housing projects are one of the priorities and (part of) our 15-point agenda. While Gawad Kalinga builds homes for the poor and as such, transferring them from a slum environment to a beautiful community restores their dignity and pride," Magalong said.

"Gawad Kalinga works with different partners in this critical step in their journey out of poverty. Everyone has a part to play in the building of communities and restoring hope," the mayor added.

Magalong has also proposed to use city-owned properties in Barangays Irisan and Lualhati for socialized housing projects for qualified government employees and resettlement site for qualified beneficiaries in the city.
