High turnout of voters noted in Cordillera

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Cordillera noted a good turnout of voters in the six provinces and two cities of the region during the May 13, 2019 midterm elections.

Lawyer Vaneza Roncal, Comelec assistant regional director, said while the tribunal has yet to get the exact number of actual voters, she said this year’s election had a good turnout.

Roncal also acknowledged the presence of minimal and manageable glitches which occurred in various areas in the region but were acted on immediately by members of the electoral boards.

Comelec meanwhile assured the public despite the malfunctioned secure digital (SD) cards and vote counting machines VCMs during the elections, an investigation will be done.

“We had a problem on the transmission especially on our geographic situation in Cordillera. It is mountainous but because of our cooperation and the contingency measures that we did, we were able to transmit right away,” Roncal said.

Comelec also acknowledged the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines for maintaining peace and order in the region.
