THE ongoing trade fair at the Ibaloi Park should only feature indigenous items.

Although no report has been forwarded to his office on the sale of items not falling under the indigenous category, Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the agreement is supposed to advocate this, deeming the sale of other items as illegal.

“Bawal yan, we did not change the rules, they have to sell indigenous items only,” Domogan reminded traders.

The trade fair is part of the Onjon ti Ibaloy celebration of Ibaloy Day at the Ibaloy Heritage Garden at Burnham Park from March 22 to April 22, 2019.

Onjon ti Ibaloy president Franklin Cocoy said the trade fair is not 100 percent indigenous as there are three of four stalls selling mixed items and food stalls selling shawarma.

Cocoy admitted they have directed the stall owners to include indigenous products in their line up to comply with the agreement with the city.

The Ibaloy Festival at Burnham Park was allowed including setting up of commercial tents provided they sell indigenous products from the region.

Weeks ago, Cocoy with adviser, Steve Cating, explained to the city council stalls will only be allowed to sell food and dry good products from the region and quickly apologized for the selling of underwear and ready to wear clothes by some.

Vice Mayor Edison Bilog also reiterated the agreement of the group and the city.

“We have a condition na dapat walang non – indigenous, if they do not follow it maaring mapa close ang fair nila,” Bilog adding councilors agreed to allow the trade fair with the condition of selling indigenous products only.
