THE Agricultural-Meteorological Research Station in La Trinidad, Benguet was able to record a temperature of 9.5 degree Celsius on January 11, 2021.

In a public weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the cold temperature will be continuously experienced in the mountainous areas in Luzon, particularly in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and will range from 9 to 12 degree Celsius.

Pagasa added that the cold temperature continues to affect Luzon because of the northeast monsoon or amihan from mainland China.

Weather Observer I Frankie Raga of the Agricultural-Meteorological Research Station said daily temperature will be taken every 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The station is operated by Benguet State University, Pagasa and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD).

Raga said monitoring of temperature starts at 7:50 a.m., adding that based on their record, the lowest temperature in 2020 was recorded on February 4 at 6.3-degree Celsius, and in 2019 a temperature of 5.1 degree Celsius was observed on February 21.

In 2018, the lowest temperature was recorded on February 9 with 9.4-degree Celsius and in 2017 with 6.0 degree Celsius.

In 2016, the lowest temperature was noted in January with a chilling temperature of eight degree Celsius, while in 2015, the lowest temperature was recorded in March with 6.4 degree Celsius.

In 2014, there was 6.5 degree Celsius and 8.8 degree Celsius in 2013.
