A LAWYER is set to ask the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera for a detailed identification of the total land area occupied by the 180 settlers inside Camp Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Lawyer Jose Molintas, legal adviser of the affected 180 lot dwellers in Camp Dangwa, said the move is to clarify and determine what specific lots PRO-Cordillera wishes to retrieve.

"I am drafting a letter asking for dialogue. They have no clear map showing boundaries so we want to clarify, otherwise, we welcome them filing case to recover possession," Molintas said.

PRO-Cordillera earlier sent letters to settlers informing them of a 60-day warning to vacate the premises identified and accounted by the regional command.

"They should show technical description and tie lines," the lawyer stated.

Based on Presidential Proclamation 157 dated June 14, 1937, part of the 75,959 square meters where the 180 individuals are occupying is reserved for military purposes.

Police Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan, PRO-Cordillera director, earlier assured there will be no demolition of the illegally erected structures inside Camp Dangwa.

Pagkalinawan said the regional command will be buying the structures as compensation for the settlers since the area is part of camp development plan enhancement capability.

Molintas said the settlers are open for talks with representatives of PRO-Cordillera to find ways on how to come up with a fair solution on both sides.

"Of course, peaceful resolution. Several years back they sent notice, we did the same," Molintas added.
