IN A BID to help speed up investigation of Imam Bedjim Abdullah’s murder, Baguio City’s Muslim community has formed a group to support Special Task Group Bedijim earlier created by the Baguio City Police Office.

During the interfaith memorial for the late Imam held at the ICM House in Baguio City, Atty. Yasser Gurru of the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) explained the creation of the group was a move to help in solving the killing of the Imam.

“The Muslim community created a special task force for Imam Bedijim seeking for justice, and we are very supportive to the Special Task Group created by the BCPO. Until now, the status of the case is all about the facial appearance of the suspect as revealed by the CCTV. We are hopeful that the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) will join hands with the BCPO for the immediate capture of culprit,” Gurru said.

Earlier, BCPO city director Senior Superintendent Eliseo Tanding sought the support of the Muslim community and the public in identifying the suspect as published on print and aired on broadcast.

“We are calling on our brother Muslims and the public in general to help in identifying the possible suspects. We would like to remind the public of the reward money put up for any vital information they can share which would help in solving the case,” Tanding stated.

Meanwhile, Gurru said the importance of the interfaith activity conducted for the late Imam as an example of propagating peace in the city.

“The importance of the interfaith activity is to prove to all that the Imam has many connection so regardless of dogma and religion, what we see is his association with interfaith which is for peace and unity,” Gurru said.

The NCMF representative added the Muslim community in Baguio City are into Islamic practices in proliferating peace and harmony.

“We are also appealing to the good people of Baguio that enough is enough with the killing and instead help the city,” Gurru added.
