SOME 200 newly appointed officers of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera were the first batch of recruits issued with their own automated teller machine (ATM) cards by the regional command.

In the oathtaking ceremonies of the 170 men and 30 women at Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet, PRO-Cordillera Director Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan, together with Land Bank La Trinidad Manager Victor Mendoza, spearheaded the handing out of ATM cards to the new members of the regional police organization.

"This new payroll system being instituted by Procor is our way of formally welcoming these 200 new police personnel to our organization. Through the help of Landbank La Trinidad, they were able to produce these cards for this batch of new policemen," Pagkalinawan said.

The ATM issuance is part of Landbank's Digital Onboarding System (DOBS), a web application launched in 2018 that reduced the account opening time and simplify the account enrolment process for clients.

The implementation of DOBS makes Landbank the first in the country that offers full digital account opening to both individual and institutional clients, including government agencies.

The system is also designed to ensure the bank's compliance to regulatory requirements in terms of data quality as it allows immediate capturing and validation of complete account-opening data and enables easy storage and retrieval of digital records.

"Procor is the second regional command in country that availed of this service by Landbank ensuring new police personnel of their salary starting August 15," Pagkalinawan said.

Landbank, meanwhile, said the issuance of these ATM cards to the new police personnel of Procor is in accordance with the observance of the minimum health standards issued by the national government to prevent the possible spread of Covid-19, aside from giving better access to these Police personnel of their financial needs when needed.

"Aside from the issuance of these ATM cards, the regional command and Landbank La Trinidad is now in the process of possible installation of an ATM teller machine inside Camp Dangwa which will not only serve the men and women of Procor, but the neighboring communities of Camp Dangwa, aside from limiting the person to person transactions of clients to its bank to prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus," Pagkalinawan added.
