ANTI-DRUG operatives eradicated 5,100 fully grown marijuana plants in two plantation sites in Kibungan, Benguet.

Police Colonel Lyndon Mencio, Benguet Provincial Police Office director, said that around 12:30 p.m., joint operating troops from Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Benguet Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit of Cordillera Administrative Region discovered two marijuana plantation sites in Tacadang proper.

The plantation site had an estimated land area of 1,020 square meters planted with P1,020,000 worth of marijuana.

No one was in the area when authorities found the plantation site.

The uprooted marijuana plants were destroyed on site, Mencio said.

Unlawful cultivation of marijuana is a violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
